OBJECTIVE

The Advanced Robotics and Controls Lab focuses on developing intelligent algorithms and controls new robotic systems. We are always looking for new ideas to apply robotics to solve real-world problems. Several application areas, outlined below, currently drive the research agenda of the lab. The lab is a multidisciplinary effort, with mechanical design of robotic systems and algorithm development.

APPLICATIONS

  • Novel robotic tools for next generation minimally invasive or non-invasive surgical procedures.

  • Machine Learning algorithms for robotic systems for semi-autonomous and human-robot collaborative surgery.

  • Image processing, image integration, and image-guided planning for augmented-reality surgery.

  • Biomimetic design for new classes of compliant robots, and biomimetic actuators for interfacing with the human body.
